SPRING CLEAN YOUR LIFE
We may not be an office but make no mistake about it, we have inventory. Piles and piles of folders in our hearts that track years of experiences from a life lived. Sadly, many of these folders are full of hurt & contain the results of unhealthy responses added to it. Negative patterns & behaviors were formed in the process that only added to the mess. Perhaps it’s time to clean it up.
The first step is to reserve a time with God each day to reflect on His Word & will for your life. Start a devotion or devo as I like to call it, with the LORD each day. Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” In other words, put God first. Notice the key word is LOVE because God is love. 1John 4:16.
Get to know Him by spending time in the Bible & learning who He is. Discover the love He has for you & the promise of hope to bring restoration between you & others in your life. Start with Genesis to understand where the fall came from & discover the promise of redemption through Jesus. Loving the LORD comes first by receiving His love for you. He is the #1 priority. Matt 6:33 says seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness and all else will be added unto you.
Pray & ask Him for help to learn how to put your Creator first so you can live in a way that is God honoring. As you begin to spend time with Him & pray, he will help you have the power to deal with all that stuff stored up in your heart.
Next step, journal your discoveries as you begin to understand what the Word means, then pray/talk with the LORD about what it looks like to apply what you are learning to your life today. As you do your part, trust Him to work it out. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13
Open the eyes of our heart LORD!
