WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT
“I don’t understand who the Holy Ghost is?” a friend asked me. “That’s a good question.” I said. First let me clarify that Ghost here means pneuma in Greek which is a current of air. Newer Bible translations say Spirit instead, but it means the same. The Holy Spirit is a part of who God is. His presence. Genesis 1:2 says, and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Spirit here written in Hebrew is ruach meaning wind.
The Spirit of God is His presence.
It can seem hard to understand but now I think it’s easier than ever. Think of it this way. Everyone has a computer these days, even in their hands everywhere they go they can access information at the click of a search bar and bam, there it is. They can send a message or call someone on the other side of the world, and someone will instantly answer. How this works I do not know. I only know that I have trust in it to work through signals in the air waves when I use it. Somehow, we have figured out how to use these signals to send out instant messages. How much more would the Creator know how to use what He has created than us. It is through the working of His Spirit that He reveals Himself to us.
In the Old Testament the Spirit of the Lord came upon the prophets to reveal what the Lord wanted the people to know but in Ezekial 36:26 He promises that one day He will put His Spirit in us. I will give you a new heart and I will put a new spirit in you. Jesus spoke of this too in John 14:26. The Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Now through the precious blood of Jesus, the IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD - Colossians 1:15, those who believe in His name can receive the Spirit and become a part of the family of God. Thank You Jesus <3
